What you eat can drastically affect how we sleep, so to get a great night?s rest, it is very important choose foods that calm your brain and the body instead of those who stimulate you. Certain types of foods will promote rest and relaxation, particularly those who contain tryptophan ? the amino acid that this body uses to produce serotonin, the neurotransmitter that slows nerve activity in your brain.


Sleep might be categorized into about four stages in line with American Academy of Sleep Medicine which lumped together some what was previously five stages way back in 2007. Okay, it is just a science... It's evolving. During the night time we rotate by having a complete sleep cycle a couple of times until we finally awake the following day. Starting with stage one, progressing through stage 4 REM (Rapid Eye Movement) and again to stage two to get started on the cycle over.
